The curriculum is divided into two sessions’ classroom training and clinical experiences. Following is the detailed discussion about the course involved in the training program:

Patient care and communication
A candidate pursuing medical assistant training needs to be humble and gentle while talking to patient. This is because doing so helps provide the patients high level of care. Moreover, the candidate needs to be effective in communication with the doctors and other healthcare professionals, as well so that proper health care working can be followed in the center. For this, the candidates during the training session are taught how to behave in the health center with the doctor and patients.

Study of anatomy
The basic medical terminologies are taught to students under this subject. During the course, students get to learn basic duties that involve how to prepare patients for the diagnostic exams, taking of their vital signs, shifting them from one area to another in the health care center.

Pharmacology study
During the pharmacology course, student will learn about various medications, contraindications, side effects and drug classifications.

Learning of laboratory procedures
Assistant’s prime duty is to carry the administrative and clinical tasks but there are times when they need to carry the laboratory procedures as well. This is where they need to get through with the tests that include blood work, urinalysis, saliva tests and other diagnostic procedures.

Study of cardiopulmonary and electrocardiography
As discussed above additional tasks are also involved in the duties of medical assistants. Where on one hand laboratory procedures are needed to be conducted by the assistants, they might also need to conduct EKG or other heart diagnostic procedures in the health center. For this, the student has to study the subjects of cardiopulmonary and electrocardiography which would be covered in the training.

Besides the learning part mentioned above in the medical assistant training program, candidates might also take classes in medical ethics and healthcare law because many health care centers do consider these two things when hiring assistants.
